Anselmo Di Mario made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Donato Malatesta in the 23rd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Donato Malatesta notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Novara AFC GOOOOOAL's Anselmo Di Mario. Anselmo Di Mario was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Claudio Odisio during the 28th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 29 played minutes Venezia got a freekick which was hit by Claudio Odisio. The supporters of Novara AFC GOOOOOAL booed when Venezia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudio Odisio didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Corrado Carlini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Ąžuolas Tolvaiša's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Beppe Chiarelli was relentless in the 38th minute of the game.
