Augusto Bonfigli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carlo Belfiore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Taleacotium's Carlo Belfiore got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Taleacotium's Ciro Lo Iacono played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ciccio Lo Iacono in the 9th minute of play. In the 16th minute Alex Pellegrini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ciro Lo Iacono saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 17 minutes into the match, Taleacotium's goal looked a bit too open when Ciccio Lo Iacono came free, but Ciro Lo Iacono reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 19 minutes Taleacotium's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Ettore Giocondo who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Ettore Giocondo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Ciro Lo Iacono quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Alberigo Taurino struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Ciro Lo Iacono didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for USD Cavese. Alberigo Taurino hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Achille Terrasi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Lo Iacono having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Taleacotium's Carlo Cappucci got a free kick in the 34th minute. Ciccio Lo Iacono recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ciccio Lo Iacono fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ciro Lo Iacono having to interfere. Augusto Bonfigli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlo Belfiore, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute, Alberigo Taurino ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ciro Lo Iacono was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Ciccio Lo Iacono's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ciro Lo Iacono read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ciccio Lo Iacono made a kick off. Alberigo Taurino took the ball and in the 70 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ciro Lo Iacono. Ciro Lo Iacono dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Augusto Bonfigli showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ciro Melfi, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. Augusto Bonfigli made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ciro Melfi in the 81st minute of play. If Ciccio Lo Iacono had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 92nd minute Ciro Melfi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Augusto Bonfigli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Taleacotium's Ciro Melfi in the 93rd minute got a chance for a shot 93rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye USD Cavese's goalie prevented a goal. If Alberigo Taurino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The USD Cavese supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing USD Cavese would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
