The referee ignored Fortaleza's protests and gave Ciro Stumpo a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alvaro Cara in the 41st minute of play forced Fortaleza's goalkeeper Christian Campoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christian Campoli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ennio Bosso's shot from short distance in the 64th minute. But to his dismay, Alvaro Punta quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-8. Ferdinando Polimeno hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Fortaleza made a substitution. Don Cabeza replaced Şehzade Akburç. After a defensive mix-up in ternana calcio fc's zone, Cosimo Polidori stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aureliusz Podolski came out of the goal and Cosimo Polidori tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Fortaleza's Dino De Vincentis got a free kick in the 87th minute. After some careless play in the Fortaleza defense, Alvaro Cara kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Christian Campoli. The Fortaleza fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Christian Campoli should have stopped the shot. In the 94th minute Alvaro Punta shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Campoli saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The goalkeeper, Christian Campoli, was totally fooled by ternana calcio fc's Alvaro Punta, who 97 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. When the final whistle sounded ternana calcio fc left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Fortaleza.
