An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcos Carioca in the 2nd minute of play forced Red Sox's goalkeeper Alfredo Lucantoni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Alex Cirigliano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 4th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfredo Lucantoni took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marcos Carioca, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 8 minutes in the game Christian Pardini did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Claudio Pan. Fortunato Boldrini recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfredo Lucantoni stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcos Carioca's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. In the 13th minute, Fortunato Boldrini made a precise shot to the right of Cristoforo Morini. Rosenborg's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 18th minute, Emil Moryl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cristoforo Morini was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Flavio Riva. After 22 minutes, Marcos Carioca made it 1-1 with a short kick to the right side. Red Sox's Alfredo Lucantoni tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Claudio Pan struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Cristoforo Morini didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Sox. When Red Sox's Claudio Pan in the 29th minute got a chance for a shot 29th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Rosenborg's goalie prevented a goal. Alfredo Lucantoni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcos Carioca in the 31st minute of the match. 36 minutes into the match, Rosenborg's goalkeeper Cristoforo Morini had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Fortunato Boldrini. Alex Cirigliano's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cristoforo Morini read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. If Alex Cirigliano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Christian Pardini charged in rather forcefully in the 46th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Christian Pardini the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alfredo Lucantoni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcos Carioca, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Marcos Carioca made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Cirigliano in the 52nd minute of play forced Rosenborg's goalkeeper Cristoforo Morini to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rosenborg's Luciano Lluques was substituted for Marcos Carioca. In the 64th minute Rosenborg were awarded a corner. Viggo Hellgren went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Viggo Hellgren almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Red Sox's Alfredo Lucantoni did a great save. In the 66th minute, Claudio Pan made a precise shot to the right of Cristoforo Morini. Rosenborg's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Cristoforo Morini showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francesco Festuccia, who was totally free with the ball in the 77th minute. 78 minutes into the game, Alex Cirigliano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-1. Cristoforo Morini was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Rosenborg made a substitution. Andrea Ronconi replaced Cosimo Mandelli. Luciano Lluques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Red Sox's Alfredo Lucantoni proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Red Sox from getting a goal against them. 89 minutes into the match, Alex Cirigliano notched a goal, 5-1, to the right of Rosenborg's Cristoforo Morini. Cristoforo Morini was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fortunato Boldrini sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Red Sox's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
