In the 21st minute of the match Andrea Pugliese sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Adriano Mancini skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Firmani in the 95th minute of play forced AC Milan's goalkeeper Brun Hello to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. AC Milan's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
