When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Krzysztof Jaskulski sped through Vaffancalcio's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dennis Carrea. Vaffancalcio's Alberto Di Clemente was substituted for Florian Capone.
