Zvonko Bajac received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Franko Blažević tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 17 minutes of play, Manchester United's Walmyr Monteiro made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Franko Blažević was left in no man's land by his defense there! 22 minutes into the match, Donji Andrijevci Polet's goal looked a bit too open when Walmyr Monteiro came free, but Franko Blažević reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 25 minutes, Zvonko Bajac made it 0-2 with a short kick to the right side. Donji Andrijevci Polet's Franko Blažević tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Zvonko Bajac managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester United's supporters rose to their feet, but Zvonko Bajac was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Franko Blažević breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Časlav Vuković in the 35th minute of play forced Manchester United's goalkeeper Armin Bonanni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Manchester United were furious when Vífill Baldvinsson was red carded, 35 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After 34 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Manchester United! In the 40th minute, Norberto Palmeira ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Franko Blažević was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Dragutin Merkaš fired away a difficult shot at goal in the 46th minute. He almost succeeded, but the ball went over. It was a very nice shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Roman Rakocija made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Walmyr Monteiro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmyr Monteiro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 54th minute Walmyr Monteiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Franko Blažević saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Walmyr Monteiro had several of the Donji Andrijevci Polet's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 57 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-4 score and a disappointed Franko Blažević as he didn't even see the shot coming. Armin Bonanni showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roman Rakocija in the 64th minute of the match. Dragutin Merkaš helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Manchester United's Dragutin Merkaš got a free kick in the 68th minute. Manchester United's Armin Bonanni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roman Rakocija in the 71st minute of play. Walmyr Monteiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Božidar Glavinić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Armin Bonanni showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Božidar Glavinić, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. Manchester United's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
