Maestral Split's supporters crossed their fingers, but Berislav Lisinski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, Maestral Split's goal looked a bit too open when Dalibor Šimunić came free, but Sergej Salzer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Željko Galinec might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Matija Stublić. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Željko Galinec ran back to his position shaking his head. 13 minutes into the match, Belec's goal looked a bit too open when Željko Galinec came free, but Matija Stublić reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maestral Split's Edi Stipičević shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 46th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Matija Stublić but with some difficulty. After the first half Belec were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Sergej Salzer made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Željko Ljuština sent off a good shot on target. Željko Ljuština succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 0-2 in the 54th playminute. After a defensive mix-up in Maestral Split's zone, Dalibor Šimunić stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergej Salzer came out of the goal and Dalibor Šimunić tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After a rather tough play, Belec's Vjekoslav Balaško got a free kick in the 67th minute. After 70 minutes, Berislav Lisinski made it 1-2 with a short kick to the right side. Belec's Matija Stublić tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Maestral Split's Sergej Salzer played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dalibor Šimunić in the 83rd minute of play. In the 85th minute Dalibor Šimunić shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergej Salzer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 89 minutes, Dalibor Šimunić managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 91st minute the ball was on its way in behind Belec's goalkeeper Matija Stublić, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Dalibor Šimunić had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Belec played a much better game than Maestral Split and deserved their victory. The Maestral Split players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
