Mersin's Ivica Brdar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Krešo Knez in the 6th minute of play. 7 minutes into the game, Jakov Futač was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Pula's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mersin the free kick. Jakov Futač hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Jakov Futač scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ivica Brdar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Leopold Trbojević had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 26th minute, Krešo Knez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivica Brdar was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After a rather tough play, Mersin's Frano Kocković got a free kick in the 30th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Mersin's Leopold Trbojević slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Arne Sandström. That made the score 1-2 after 36 minutes of play. With his leg Arne Sandström managed to avoid a goal in the 39thth minute, when Mersin's Leopold Trbojević fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Krešo Knez was the one to do the kick off. In the 52nd match minute, Mersin was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jurica Ožanić to maneuver through the defense. If Eugen Crnjak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Frano Kocković hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Jakov Futač received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Ivica Brdar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leopold Trbojević in the 66th minute of play forced Pula's goalkeeper Arne Sandström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Frano Kocković received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Arne Sandström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 69 minutes into the match, Leopold Trbojević notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Pula's Arne Sandström. Arne Sandström was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience was convinced that Leopold Trbojević's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arne Sandström was relentless in the 80th minute of the game. If Jakov Futač had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Pula's Krešo Knez got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ivica Brdar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kryspin Rzeszutko in the 94th minute of the match. In the 96th minute Leopold Trbojević shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arne Sandström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
