In the 9th minute Andrej Palković shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ante Smalcelj saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Andrej Palković got free with Ante Smalcelj in the 14th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Matko Balog in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Višeslav Berend prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Gojko Dujmović kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. If Eduard Turčin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Gajić Zadrugar defense, Andrej Palković kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ante Smalcelj. The Gajić Zadrugar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ante Smalcelj should have stopped the shot. In the 26th match minute, Povratnici was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Emil Labura to maneuver through the defense. Eduard Turčins short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Ante Smalcelj to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Višeslav Berend took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Branko Azinović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 47th minute, Eduard Turčin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Povratnici fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Matko Balog was the one to do the kick off. Ante Smalcelj showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eduard Turčin, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Eduard Turčin sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ante Smalcelj didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Andrej Palković went, in the 59th minute, to the upper right corner, 7-0 was the resulting score. The audience was convinced that Andrej Palković's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ante Smalcelj was relentless in the 74th minute of the game. In the 79th minute, Wong Lee ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ante Smalcelj was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. Gajić Zadrugar's Ante Smalcelj played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eduard Turčin in the 82nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Andrej Palković in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ante Smalcelj saved Gajić Zadrugar from getting behind. Andrej Palković struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Ante Smalcelj didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Povratnici. Eduard Turčin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ante Smalcelj having to make a save. Ante Smalcelj took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wong Lee, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
