The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 2nd match minute, Banovci Polet was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Romeo Pugelnik to maneuver through the defense. Grga Frković kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After some careless play in the Banovci Polet defense, Eduard Turčin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Borko Šterger. The Banovci Polet fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Borko Šterger should have stopped the shot. In the 11th minute, Eduard Turčin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Borko Šterger was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Eduard Turčin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Povratnici's supporters rose to their feet, but Eduard Turčin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Borko Šterger breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Romeo Pugelnik hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. A collision led to Povratnici getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Grga Frković hit a great ball. In the 25th minute the ball was on its way in behind Banovci Polet's goalkeeper Borko Šterger, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Povratnici's Višeslav Berend played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Romeo Pugelnik in the 26th minute of play. Povratnici's Andrej Palković got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Banovci Polet's goal looked a bit too open when Andrej Palković came free, but Borko Šterger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Romeo Pugelnik received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Višeslav Berend tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Borko Šterger showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrej Palković in the 35th minute of the match. 37 minutes had been played when some careless play by Banovci Polet's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Fran Davidović was slow to take the kick. During this time Povratnici's players had a chance to rest. Andrej Palković blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Borko Šterger having to make a save. The supporters of Povratnici booed when Banovci Polet was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrijan Markač didn't get a good kick on the ball. Eduard Turčin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Borko Šterger having to interfere.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Romeo Pugelnik stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Borko Šterger didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eduard Turčin went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 3-0 was the resulting score. If Nebojša Maljković had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes in the game, Romeo Pugelnik fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Višeslav Berend having to interfere. When Nebojša Maljković came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Banovci Polet fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nebojša Maljković couldn't finish the play. When Eduard Turčin came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Povratnici fans jumped to their feet. Banovci Polet's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andrej Palković was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Andrej Palković in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Borko Šterger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Adrijan Markač charged in rather forcefully in the 92nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Adrijan Markač the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 92nd minute, Adrijan Markač hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 93rd minute of the match Fran Davidović sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Borko Šterger skillfully saved the ball. For all the effort they put into the match, the Banovci Polet players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Povratnici.
