In the 17th minute of the match, Luka Jović got a very nice opportunity to score, but Miljenko Gošljević was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 18 minutes had been played when some careless play by Go Ahead Falcons's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Viktor Ostoić was slow to take the kick. During this time NK OSIJEK's players had a chance to rest. In the 19th minute, Priidik Room got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Go Ahead Falcons's Desislav Kabakov got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dominik Klaus got free with Miljenko Gošljević in the 23rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute Priidik Room shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Miljenko Gošljević saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Desislav Kabakov in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Matko Gortan prevented the ball from getting in the gole. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmundo Dracena in the 47th minute of play forced NK OSIJEK's goalkeeper Matko Gortan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Desislav Kabakov in the 48th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Matko Gortan saved NK OSIJEK from getting behind. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Desislav Kabakov made a kick off. Matko Gortan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Edmundo Dracena, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. After 52 played minutes NK OSIJEK got a freekick which was hit by Dominik Klaus. After some careless play in the Go Ahead Falcons defense, Luka Jović kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Miljenko Gošljević. The Go Ahead Falcons fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Miljenko Gošljević should have stopped the shot. Go Ahead Falcons made a substitution. Jacinto Moutinho replaced Desislav Kabakov. Go Ahead Falcons's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jacinto Moutinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jacinto Moutinhos short, quick shot in the 76thth minute got Matko Gortan to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 77 played minutes Go Ahead Falcons got a freekick which was hit by Martin Vizek. Matko Gortan was out of position in the 79 minute of play, and Edmundo Dracena capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Edmundo Dracena really showed his touch with that goal: 3-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Petrica Horvatin in the 83rd minute of play forced Go Ahead Falcons's goalkeeper Miljenko Gošljević to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. NK OSIJEK were awarded a corner in the 86th minute after Go Ahead Falcons's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Viktor Ostoić took the corner.
