Lipovljani's Gabrijel Jovanovski proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Lipovljani from getting a goal against them. A collision led to Lipovljani getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Egon Škare hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Antonio Hrste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabrijel Jovanovski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Maksimir's Antonio Hrste got a good chance for a goal in the 23rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nikifor Kulaksúzov in the 27th minute of play forced Maksimir's goalkeeper Barlas Özerdal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Antonio Hrste's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gabrijel Jovanovski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 29th minute of play. In the 30th minute of the match Maksimir got a corner. Lipovljani's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Adam Dodaj ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Maksimir's Danijel Petrlin getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Maksimir's Barlas Özerdal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tonko Urban in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th minute Danijel Petrlin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gabrijel Jovanovski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 35 minutes, Gradimir Antonić mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Maksimir and the Lipovljani players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 35 played minutes Maksimir got a freekick which was hit by Gradimir Antonić. In the 44th minute, Antonio Hrste ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gabrijel Jovanovski was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. The supporters of Maksimir booed when Lipovljani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Valter Vidulić didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gabrijel Jovanovski didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Adrijan Grbović went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-1 was the resulting score. After a defensive mix-up in Lipovljani's zone, Adrijan Grbović stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gabrijel Jovanovski came out of the goal and Adrijan Grbović tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Adrijan Grbović struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Gabrijel Jovanovski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Maksimir. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adrijan Grbović in the 89th minute of play forced Lipovljani's goalkeeper Gabrijel Jovanovski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabrijel Jovanovski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Adrijan Grbović in the 91st minute of play. Barlas Özerdal didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cvjetko Štokić went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-2 was the resulting score. In the 98th minute, Antonio Hrste made a precise shot to the right of Gabrijel Jovanovski. Lipovljani's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-2. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Maksimir fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lipovljani had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
