Samy Souchu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to aupperle sc getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Grégory Candelier hit a great ball. If Lenny Chapel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Samy Souchu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Régis Dufresne, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 24 minutes into the game, Alix Cavaille was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. aupperle sc's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave lyon84 the free kick. In the 23rd minute, one of aupperle sc:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for aupperle sc. Samy Souchu went to the wrong direction when Daryl Rocha was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Isaac Maindron recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Régis Dufresne received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Samy Souchu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, aupperle sc's goal looked a bit too open when Régis Dufresne came free, but Samy Souchu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. aupperle sc's Samy Souchu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lenny Chapel in the 35th minute of play. After a rather tough play, aupperle sc's Jean-Pierre Artaud got a free kick in the 38th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as aupperle sc's Jean-Christophe Prêtre slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tage Åkerström. That made the score 1-0 after 40 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Jean-Christophe Prêtre made the kick off in the second half. Jean-Christophe Prêtre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tage Åkerström having to interfere. After having played for 60 minutes, Lenny Chapel managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. lyon84's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lenny Chapel was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Régis Dufresne got free with Samy Souchu in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jean-Christophe Prêtre kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. If Régis Dufresne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Grégory Candelier fell near the penalty area in the 74th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored aupperle sc's protests and gave Grégory Candelier a yellow card for diving instead. With a little luck, aupperle sc's Samy Souchu got control of the ball when Régis Dufresne tried to sneak it across the goal line. Lenny Chapel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samy Souchu having to interfere. Lenny Chapel might have been able to make a better finish in the 83rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Samy Souchu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lenny Chapel ran back to his position shaking his head. Samy Souchu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lenny Chapel in the 84th minute of play. If Régis Dufresne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The aupperle sc support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
