With a couple of smart ball manuevers Salim Bourse in the 14th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Léon Deneuve saved montpellier herault sport from getting behind. Nelson Rousselle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Léon Deneuve having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Nelson Rousselle managed to get in a good position for a shot. Katzenthal's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelson Rousselle was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Léon Deneuve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Just Filoche made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Louis Jeudy in the 23rd minute of play. Louis Jeudy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Salim Bourse managed to get in a good position for a shot. Katzenthal's supporters rose to their feet, but Salim Bourse was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Léon Deneuve breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in montpellier herault sport's zone, Salim Bourse stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Léon Deneuve came out of the goal and Salim Bourse tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Léon Deneuve showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Salim Bourse in the 44th minute of the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salim Bourse was the one to do the kick off. Louis Jeudy received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Just Filoche came out and tried to block the shot, but Louis Jeudy slotted it home off the left post making it 0-1 in the 51st minute. Eymeric Berrier's late challenge caught a Katzenthal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eymeric Berrier helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, montpellier herault sport's Eymeric Berrier got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 66th minute, Bart Maguet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 67 minutes, Nelson Rousselle managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Katzenthal's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nelson Rousselle was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Léon Deneuve stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelson Rousselle's shot from short distance in the 71st minute. In the 71st match minute, montpellier herault sport was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eymeric Berrier to maneuver through the defense. If Salim Bourse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Nelson Rousselle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Léon Deneuve having to interfere.
