Lucien Chapelon took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ronald Daguerre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Thierry Berthoud during the 30th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 30 played minutes Cordelas got a freekick which was hit by Thierry Berthoud. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elias Haudiquet made a kick off. Hervé Weill fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jean-Michel Prodhomme having to interfere. 56 minutes into the match, olympique Lyonnais's goalkeeper Lucien Chapelon had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Romuald Mottier. Thierry Berthouds short, quick shot in the 62ndth minute got Lucien Chapelon to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Kilian Starck hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Jean-Michel Prodhomme showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hervé Weill in the 70th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in olympique Lyonnais's zone, Thierry Berthoud stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Lucien Chapelon came out of the goal and Thierry Berthoud tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Cordelas getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Noureddine Papa hit a great ball. In the 85th minute, Thierry Berthoud ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Lucien Chapelon was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. When the final whistle sounded Cordelas left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than olympique Lyonnais.
