After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Eden Pétry managed to get in a good position for a shot. When Loïc Baume came up free with the goalie in the 10th minute, the Metz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Loïc Baume couldn't finish the play. After 13 played minutes Béziers got a freekick which was hit by Dominique Hochard. Loïc Baume could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 15th minute of the match, but Djibril Bèguet made a huge save. In the 23rd minute, Luka Wahl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Béziers were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after Metz's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Walter Boisse took the corner. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norbert Guillonneau prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Metz's zone, Davy Mélin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Norbert Guillonneau came out of the goal and Davy Mélin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Djibril Bèguet successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Eddy Thevenon to strike the kick off in the second half. A hard shot 54 in the game by Davy Mélin from a close distance when the talented Norbert Guillonneau managed to make a qualified save. Metz's players were relieved. Norbert Guillonneau made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Davy Mélin sent off a good shot on target. Davy Mélin struck a weak shot in the 57th minute. Norbert Guillonneau didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Béziers. Metz's Loïc Baume suffered a concussion in the 59th minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. When Simon Lemaître fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Béziers's protests and gave Simon Lemaître a yellow card for diving instead. Simon Lemaître kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Erwann Barou fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Djibril Bèguet having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eddy Thevenon in the 76th minute of play forced Metz's goalkeeper Norbert Guillonneau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luka Wahl's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Djibril Bèguet read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 81st minute of play. Davy Mélin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Norbert Guillonneau tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Metz getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Eden Pétry hit a great ball. Metz's Norbert Guillonneau played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eddy Thevenon in the 95th minute of play. Luka Wahl kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
