But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarod Lobry couldn't finish the play. The referee felt a red card was in order, 16 minutes into the game, when Joffrey Gatti put in a rough tackle. After 15 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Carcot! Porter Lacy shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Florentin Michard hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Yoann Burgun fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pavel Lifanov having to interfere. In the 27th minute, Porter Lacy hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aziz Caillys short, quick shot in the 29thth minute got Pavel Lifanov to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Aziz Cailly received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Pavel Lifanov came out and tried to block the shot, but Aziz Cailly slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 32nd minute. Mohamed Ruelle made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Oscar Cadieu in the 35th minute of play. Aziz Cailly received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Pavel Lifanov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Carcot's goal looked a bit too open when Jordan Busch came free, but Mohamed Ruelle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nice's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Porter Lacy in the 44th minute. Mohamed Ruelle took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jordan Busch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aziz Cailly to strike the kick off in the second half. If Florentin Michard had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 55th minute Oscar Cadieu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mohamed Ruelle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pavel Lifanov took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmed Barbin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 60 minutes into the game, Carcot's Yoann Burgun nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pavel Lifanov made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 65th minute, Aziz Cailly managed to get in a good position for a shot. Carcot's supporters rose to their feet, but Aziz Cailly was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pavel Lifanov breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Yoann Burgun recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mohamed Ruelle made a fantastic save in the 68th minute, when Jordan Busch sent off a good shot on target. 70 minutes into the match, Carcot's goalkeeper Mohamed Ruelle had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Florentin Michard. After 70 played minutes Carcot got a freekick which was hit by Ahmed Barbin. Florentin Michard could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Mohamed Ruelle made a huge save. Porter Lacy kicked well hit freekick during the 75th minute of the match. Émeric Delaroche struck a weak shot in the 76th minute. Pavel Lifanov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Carcot. After 83 minutes, Donald Caillol mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Carcot and the Nice players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 86th minute of the match Porter Lacy sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mohamed Ruelle skillfully saved the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jordan Busch got free with Mohamed Ruelle in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nice's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Yoann Burgun was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jordan Busch got free with Mohamed Ruelle in the 96th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Nice's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
