Spectators: 6842 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1842, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Michaël Houdayer kicked off to start the match. In the 3rd minute, Melvin Blais hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michaël Houdayer in the 4thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Sofyane Canova, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Pierre-Henri Grognet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aymerick Zajac in the 8th minute of the match. When AS Saint-Étienne's Aymerick Zajac in the 11th minute got a chance for a shot 11th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lucinges's goalie prevented a goal. In the 13th minute Aymerick Zajac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pierre-Henri Grognet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Yves Arnal recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 27 minutes into the match, AS Saint-Étienne's goal looked a bit too open when Michaël Houdayer came free, but Sofyane Canova reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Lucinges booed when AS Saint-Étienne was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bacary Sarrat didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hocine Abgrall was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 32nd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. When Yves Arnal came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the AS Saint-Étienne fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Yves Arnal couldn't finish the play. Aymerick Zajac received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Pierre-Henri Grognet tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Yves Arnal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Yves Arnal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The AS Saint-Étienne fans' excitement grew in the 42nd match minute when AS Saint-Étienne's Yves Arnal looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 47th minute, Aymerick Zajac ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pierre-Henri Grognet was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After the first half AS Saint-Étienne were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Yves Arnal to make the kick off. Aymerick Zajac made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 60thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Pierre-Henri Grognet would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Pierre-Henri Grognet made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yves Arnal in the 62nd minute of play. If Yves Arnal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Terry Lacrouts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Pierre-Henri Grognet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Yves Arnal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 80th minute, Yves Arnal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Pierre-Henri Grognet made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aymerick Zajac in the 81st minute. Aymerick Zajac's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 83rdth minute, Pierre-Henri Grognet skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Pierre-Henri Grognet showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Yves Arnal in the 84th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Lucinges's zone, Yves Arnal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pierre-Henri Grognet came out of the goal and Yves Arnal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aymerick Zajac had several of the Lucinges's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 88 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-3 score and a disappointed Pierre-Henri Grognet as he didn't even see the shot coming. The supporters of AS Saint-Étienne booed when Lucinges was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jack Gomes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Yves Arnal struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Pierre-Henri Grognet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AS Saint-Étienne. When the final whistle sounded AS Saint-Étienne left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lucinges.
