In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cagny's goalkeeper Michel Capitaine, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The supporters of Real Sociedad booed when Cagny was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Arnaud Cado didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 15th minute, Libertad Sarmiento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Michel Capitaine was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. After 20th play minutes Libertad Sarmiento shot 0-3, a short shot which went by Michel Capitaine and just under the crossbar into goal. If Edmond Antigny had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Michel Capitaine made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Libertad Sarmiento in the 24th minute of play. In the 28th minute, Libertad Sarmiento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Real Sociedad fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-5. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Libertad Sarmiento in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Michel Capitaine saved Cagny from getting behind. 34 minutes into the match, Libertad Sarmiento had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Michel Capitaine. Cagny's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Libertad Sarmiento was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. After some fancy dribbling in the 37th minute, Libertad Sarmiento managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Sociedad's supporters rose to their feet, but Libertad Sarmiento was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Michel Capitaine breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Real Sociedad fans' excitement grew in the 39th match minute when Real Sociedad's Libertad Sarmiento looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Libertad Sarmiento succeeded in the game's 42nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-8. After 46 minutes, Edmond Antigny made it 0-9 with a short kick to the right side. Cagny's Michel Capitaine tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-9 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ali Defosse was the one to do the kick off. Edmond Antigny who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 55thth minute tested the skills of Michel Capitaine when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 57 minutes into the match, Cagny's goalkeeper Michel Capitaine had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edmond Antigny. Libertad Sarmiento scored 0-10 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Michel Capitaine, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Edmond Antigny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Michel Capitaine didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Libertad Sarmiento went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-11 was the resulting score. When Youri Veillon came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Real Sociedad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Youri Veillon couldn't finish the play. Libertad Sarmiento got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 0-12 in the right cross in the 71st match minute before Michel Capitaine had time to react. When the match clock showed 78 minutes, the score became 0-13 when Libertad Sarmiento sped through Cagny's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michel Capitaine. After having played for 81 minutes, Edmond Antigny managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Real Sociedad's supporters crossed their fingers, but Edmond Antigny was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Real Sociedad's Libertad Sarmiento in the 92nd minute got a chance for a shot 92nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 94th minute, Barthélémy Guilloux hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Edmond Antigny came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Real Sociedad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmond Antigny couldn't finish the play. When the final whistle sounded Real Sociedad left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cagny.
