If Daryl Belleville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 4th minute John-Paul Gillon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joris Lahaye saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 14 minutes into the match, Alfred Gachon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Edmond Esnault, 1-0. The supporters of Stade Rennais FC booed when Clichy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thibaut Châtelard didn't get a good kick on the ball. Edmond Esnault made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hamid Badier in the 22nd minute of play. Hamid Badier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Edmond Esnault having to interfere. Alfred Gachon received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Edmond Esnault came out and tried to block the shot, but Alfred Gachon slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 33rd minute. 41 minutes into the game, Luka Rioult recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Edmond Esnault. Luka Rioult showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 3-0. In the 48thth minute of the game Noël Forte who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stade Rennais FC's Joris Lahaye was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when John-Paul Gillon made the kick off in the second half. Teddy Lalouette kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Daryl Belleville received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Joris Lahaye tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 62 minutes into the game, Hamid Badier cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Edmond Esnault was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Clichy's John-Paul Gillon in the 65th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Joris Lahaye was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Stade Rennais FC through an amazing save. After some careless play in the Clichy defense, Hamid Badier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edmond Esnault. The Clichy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edmond Esnault should have stopped the shot. Edmond Esnault showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfred Gachon in the 77th minute of the match. A collision led to Stade Rennais FC getting a freekick after 79 minutes play. Alfred Gachon hit a great ball. If Daryl Belleville had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. A hard shot by Hocine Bellot from long distance, 92 minutes into the match, got Joris Lahaye's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. In the 96th minute Romain Clapier shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edmond Esnault saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
