Gavril Bălașa charged in rather forcefully in the 12th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a rather tough play, FC Porto's John-David Sylla got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Modeste Ramassamy recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, FC Porto's Faustin Wauquier got control of the ball when Modeste Ramassamy tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Morgan Authier fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Neuville's protests and gave Morgan Authier a yellow card for diving instead. Morgan Authier kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sabri Tritz got free with Faustin Wauquier in the 32nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. FC Porto's Faustin Wauquier proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save FC Porto from getting a goal against them. Theo Stéphant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from John-David Sylla in the 37th minute of play. 40 minutes into the match, FC Porto's goal looked a bit too open when Morgan Authier came free, but Faustin Wauquier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
