Challans's Dorian Gergaud played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stéphane Couasnon in the 15th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bertrand Demol in the 17th minute of play forced Greux's goalkeeper Kader Gaume to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute Samir Le Roux shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Kader Gaume saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Samir Le Roux's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kader Gaume was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. After 37 played minutes, Greux's Kylian Bertaud shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Dorian Gergaud came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Greux reached it. When Stéphane Couasnon came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Greux fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stéphane Couasnon couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, F.C. Challans's Dorian Gergaud got control of the ball when Stéphane Couasnon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Greux's Stéphane Couasnon got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Dorian Gergaud showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Loïc Bonjour, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute. Dorian Gergaud stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Loïc Bonjour's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. 67 minutes into the match, F.C. Challans's goal looked a bit too open when Stéphane Couasnon came free, but Dorian Gergaud reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Kader Gaume made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samir Le Roux in the 79th minute. Ilan Allio's late challenge caught a Greux's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ilan Allio helped the player get up and apologised. After 93 played minutes F.C. Challans got a freekick which was hit by Ilan Allio. Kader Gaume showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bertrand Demol, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. F.C. Challans's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
