Kamel Tisserant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pierre Fargier in the 27th minute of play. Christian Ricaud's late challenge caught a Joga Bonitou FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Christian Ricaud helped the player get up and apologised. Joga Bonitou FC made a substitution. Désiré Delpech replaced Basile Salvat. In the 29th minute, Christian Ricaud hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pierre Fargier fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kamel Tisserant having to interfere. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Djamel Pesenti was the one to do the kick off. Didier Lully made an important save on a dangerous shot by Clem Villa in the 51st minute. The audience was convinced that Djamel Pesenti's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kamel Tisserant was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. When Clem Villa came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Marly fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clem Villa couldn't finish the play. The referee ignored Marly's protests and gave Reynald Reynal a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Joga Bonitou FC booed when Marly was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Reynald Reynal didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, Marly's Noël Bodin got a free kick in the 84th minute. Didier Lully took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Émilien Braud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience was convinced that Djamel Pesenti's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kamel Tisserant was relentless in the 90th minute of the game. If Pierre Fargier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 95th minute, Pierre Fargier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
