In the 40th minute of the match Étoile du Sud got a corner. Cellule's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daryl Cottineau ran over to the corner to take the kick. Étoile du Sud's Daryl Cottineau was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jean-Charles Sauvaget in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Jean-Charles Sauvaget showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Noël Chamayou, who was totally free with the ball in the 42nd minute. Jean-Charles Sauvaget took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Noël Chamayou, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Jacques Pousse came free with the goalkeeper in the 95th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jean-Charles Sauvaget could save by the left post. For all the effort they put into the match, the Étoile du Sud players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Cellule.
