A collision led to OUS Cognac getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Théophile Bodereau hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Victor Mareau in the 9th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by OUS Cognac's Salvidor Matuta. In the 10th minute, Salvidor Matuta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Paul-Émile Gendrot didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Philippe Sévestre went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Paul-Émile Gendrot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Philippe Sévestre, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 18th minute Victor Champenois shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul-Émile Gendrot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paul-Émile Gendrot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Champenois, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. In the 20th minute Philippe Sévestre shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul-Émile Gendrot saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Paul-Émile Gendrot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Victor Champenois, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 26th minute, Georges Lemaistre ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Paul-Émile Gendrot was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. If Dove Bouillet had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dove Bouillet took the ball and in the 35 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paul-Émile Gendrot. Paul-Émile Gendrot dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-4. 39 minutes into the match, OUS Cognac's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Champenois came free, but Paul-Émile Gendrot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Santos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Georges Lemaistre in the 40th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Dove Bouillet heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Philippe Sévestre in the 43rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Paul-Émile Gendrot saved OUS Cognac from getting behind. Paul-Émile Gendrot showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Victor Champenois in the 44th minute of the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Victor Champenois to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Champenois in the 51st minute of play forced OUS Cognac's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Gendrot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Philippe Sévestre took the ball and in the 52 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paul-Émile Gendrot. Paul-Émile Gendrot dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-5. Dove Bouillet hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Joachim Favreau in the 59th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Mathys Turban saved Santos from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Philippe Sévestre got free with Paul-Émile Gendrot in the 61st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, OUS Cognac's Paul-Émile Gendrot got control of the ball when Ben Le Mestre tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 64th minute, Philippe Sévestre made a precise shot to the right of Paul-Émile Gendrot. OUS Cognac's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-6. Joachim Favreau took the ball and in the 68 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Mathys Turban. Mathys Turban dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. An unexpectedly hard shot by Victor Champenois in the 72nd minute of play forced OUS Cognac's goalkeeper Paul-Émile Gendrot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 1-7 became the score in the 74th minute when Ben Le Mestre elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. After some careless play in the OUS Cognac defense, Georges Lemaistre kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Paul-Émile Gendrot. The OUS Cognac fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Paul-Émile Gendrot should have stopped the shot. Santos played a much better game than OUS Cognac and deserved their victory. The OUS Cognac players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
