The supporters of Olympique Versailles booed when massïlia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jean-Yves Dordain didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pavel Chivu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jules Bucaille, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Zinedine Charlot received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Pavel Chivu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Louison Le Boucher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joseph Leperlier during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. An unexpected shot in the 37th minute by Dylan Raynal got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Jochen Sommerhalder had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

massïlia's Pavel Chivu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dylan Raynal in the 52nd minute of play. Olympique Versailles's Uriel Ixidor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 53rd minute of the match, managed to save Olympique Versailles from getting a goal against them. 62 minutes into the match, massïlia's goal looked a bit too open when Jules Bucaille came free, but Pavel Chivu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jochen Sommerhalder in the 64th minute of play forced Olympique Versailles's goalkeeper Uriel Ixidor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jochen Sommerhalder fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uriel Ixidor having to interfere. Pavel Chivu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jules Bucaille in the 72nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jules Bucaille in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pavel Chivu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jules Bucaille in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pavel Chivu saved massïlia from getting behind. Uriel Ixidor was out of position in the 84 minute of play, and Jochen Sommerhalder capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Jochen Sommerhalder really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. Dylan Raynal struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Pavel Chivu didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympique Versailles. The audience was convinced that Dylan Raynal's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Pavel Chivu was relentless in the 94th minute of the game. When the final whistle went the supporters of massïlia were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Olympique Versailles side.
