The audience thought a goal was coming when Charlie Laplagne got free with Rémi Dif in the 2nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Rémi Dif made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dominique Pages in the 4th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominique Pages in the 5th minute of play forced marseïlle's goalkeeper Rémi Dif to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rémi Dif took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dominique Pages, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 7 played minutes Orcines got a freekick which was hit by Charlie Laplagne. 8 minutes into the game, Stanislas Royer cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Jérémy Gauvrit was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 11th minute, Orcines's Dominique Pages dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. marseïlle's Rémi Dif played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dominique Pages in the 14th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Samuel Viallet left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The marseïlle fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. If Gustave Capon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jérémy Gauvrit made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stanislas Royer in the 22nd minute of play. Jérémy Gauvrit stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Stanislas Royer's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. After 27 played minutes marseïlle got a freekick which was hit by Simon Mugnier. With an all-out effort, Orcines's Rémi Dif threw himself towards the right post 29 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dominique Pages, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Samuel Viallet in the 32nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jérémy Gauvrit saved Orcines from getting behind. If Stanislas Royer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Samuel Viallet got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Dominique Pages to make the kick off. After 53 minutes Orcines's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Yann Aillaud who took care of the corner kick. Rémi Dif showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olivier Morgand in the 56th minute of the match. In the 57th minute, Samuel Viallet fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jérémy Gauvrit, passed just outside the right post.
