Felipe Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ibar Acarreta in the 10th minute of play. Leal Vazquez kicked well hit freekick during the 11th minute of the match. Felipe Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ibar Acarreta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aita Turienzo made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Fredo Treviño sent off a good shot on target. When the match clock showed 16 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Ibar Acarreta sped through Atlético Tomelloso's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Felipe Sanz. In the 19th minute, Gilen Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aita Turienzo made a fantastic save in the 27th minute, when Gandolfo Munoz sent off a good shot on target. Atlético Tomelloso's Felipe Sanz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ibar Acarreta in the 34th minute of play. A collision led to Atlético Tomelloso getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Gilen Paredes hit a great ball. After 39 played minutes Atlético Tomelloso got a freekick which was hit by Gandolfo Munoz. When Rayo United's Ibar Acarreta in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Atlético Tomelloso's goalie prevented a goal. With an all-out effort, Atlético Tomelloso's Aita Turienzo threw himself towards the right post 42 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gandolfo Munoz, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Roberto Saboya's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aita Turienzo read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ibar Acarreta stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Atlético Tomelloso's goal looked a bit too open when Ibar Acarreta came free, but Felipe Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute, Luke Vagrande made a precise shot to the right of Aita Turienzo. Rayo United's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After 57 played minutes Rayo United got a freekick which was hit by Leocadio Villalcazar. Leal Vazquez hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. When the match had gone on for 62 minutes, Ibar Acarreta took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Felipe Sanz to make any attempt to save it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ibar Acarreta got free with Felipe Sanz in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 74th minute of the match Leocadio Villalcazar sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Felipe Sanz skillfully saved the ball. Felipe Sanz was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Leocadio Villalcazar. After 77 played minutes Rayo United got a freekick which was hit by Alatz Puyol. Felipe Sanz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ibar Acarreta's shot from short distance in the 85th minute. Felipe Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ibar Acarreta in the 89th minute. Bozhko Kabedelov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 90th minute of the match, but Felipe Sanz made a huge save. Atlético Tomelloso's Felipe Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 96th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético Tomelloso from getting a goal against them. The Rayo United supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rayo United would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
