Egun Camaño took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Russell Phillips, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The attack was good, but when Ola Ola in the 5th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. After a rather tough play, Atlético Ciudadela's Medardo Higuera got a free kick in the 13th minute. In the 14th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Nono Carreira hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. 19 minutes into the match, Russell Phillips had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Egun Camaño. Atlético Ciudadela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Russell Phillips was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Ciudadela's zone, Michel Carreira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egun Camaño came out of the goal and Michel Carreira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Egun Camaño made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ola Ola in the 24th minute of play. If Russell Phillips had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st match minute, Onil FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lastur Tobias to maneuver through the defense. After a defensive mix-up in Atlético Ciudadela's zone, Russell Phillips stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Egun Camaño came out of the goal and Russell Phillips tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Russell Phillips's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Egun Camaño read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. Russell Phillips recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Ola Ola received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Egun Camaño tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 65 played minutes Atlético Ciudadela got a freekick which was hit by Guter Calatayud. After a rather tough play, Atlético Ciudadela's Armando Mayor got a free kick in the 68th minute. When Ola Ola in the 74th play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Egun Camaño kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 0-3 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. In the 79th minute, Russell Phillips left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Onil FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-4. Russell Phillips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 84 minutes, Ola Ola put it in 0-5 from a short distance just to the right of Egun Camaño. When Araoz Armada came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Onil FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Araoz Armada couldn't finish the play. Onil FC played a much better game than Atlético Ciudadela and deserved their victory. The Atlético Ciudadela players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
