The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The referee showed Quique Sabina the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 19 minutes into the game, one of Basic united:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Basic united:s Selmo Barroso showed great skill when he stopped Roldán Camaño:s penalty. Joseba Carballido in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Gaizka Abad, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Fix Casero hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gaizka Abad showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Selmo Barroso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santxo Rico, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Santxo Rico sent away a hard shot on goal in the 80th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Selmo Barroso stood somewhat misplaced when Santxo Rico came free in front of goal and shot 0-1 to the left of him in the 82 minute. Selmo Barroso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Santxo Rico in the 90th minute of the match. Milio Ponce De Leon charged in rather forcefully in the 97th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Milio Ponce De Leon the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Milio Ponce De Leon kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match.
