Elixio Mezquita came out of the goal and Kiko Marques tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of Los romeros booed when Alicante AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aladino Pacheco didn't get a good kick on the ball. Víctor Soto showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Idacio Hevia in the 26th minute of the match. Alicante AFC's Elixio Mezquita played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kiko Marques in the 59th minute of play. Kiko Marques received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Elixio Mezquita tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pere Coya in the 62nd minute of play forced Alicante AFC's goalkeeper Elixio Mezquita to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute, Pere Coya got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience was convinced that Kiko Marques's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elixio Mezquita was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. If Pere Coya had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Allande Bacete couldn't finish the play.
