Cipriano Rosas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paşa Ali Onar, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. Real Sociedad's Santxo Gibert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lesardo Lopez de Toro in the 12th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Lesardo Lopez de Toro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Cipriano Rosas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renan Quaresma, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. In the 18th minute of the match, Roldán Alvarez got a very nice opportunity to score, but Santxo Gibert was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Real Sociedad's Santxo Gibert proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Real Sociedad from getting a goal against them. Josue Feria hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute Lesardo Lopez de Toro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Santxo Gibert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 33 played minutes Real Sociedad got a freekick which was hit by Eliazar Ponce De Leon. The long shot by Sinforoso Duarte in the 34th minute really tested Santxo Gibert's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Garin Fonticoba to make the kick off. Cipriano Rosas made a fantastic save in the 58th minute, when Renan Quaresma sent off a good shot on target. Renan Quaresma fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cipriano Rosas having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Real Sociedad's Felipe Vicente got a free kick in the 69th minute. After 75 played minutes Real Sociedad got a freekick which was hit by Manuel Salazar. Santxo Gibert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roldán Alvarez, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. 83 minutes into the game, Iboyo's Garin Fonticoba nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Santxo Gibert made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Santxo Gibert took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gorka Bouzon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Iboyo's Lesardo Lopez de Toro got a free kick in the 97th minute. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
