Gonsalve Mendez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Fabián Orellana might have been able to make a better finish in the 7th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gonsalve Mendez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabián Orellana ran back to his position shaking his head. Dagoberto Mezquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonsalve Mendez having to interfere. Fabián Orellanas short, quick shot in the 10thth minute got Gonsalve Mendez to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Manu FC's Dagoberto Mezquita got a good chance for a goal in the 11th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th match minute, Zariquiegui SD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lalla Zubizarreta to maneuver through the defense. Gonsalve Mendez made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Fabián Orellana sent off a good shot on target. In the 30th minute the ball was on its way in behind Manu FC's goalkeeper Nerio Toledo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gonsalve Mendez had great luck who in the 32ndth minute grab hold of the ball when Dagoberto Mezquita from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. After having played for 33 minutes, Fabián Orellana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manu FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fabián Orellana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Zariquiegui SD's Gonsalve Mendez got control of the ball when Dagoberto Mezquita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Amor Gimenez charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amor Gimenez the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Manu FC booed when Zariquiegui SD was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amor Gimenez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Revuelta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Manu FC's Dagoberto Mezquita in the 45th minute got a chance for a shot 45th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Amor Gimenez kicked well hit freekick during the 47th minute of the match. Fabián Orellana fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 49th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gonsalve Mendez having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabián Orellana made a kick off. In the 54th minute, Fabián Orellana ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gonsalve Mendez was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. Franco Sánchez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nerio Toledo having to interfere. Fabián Orellana's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gonsalve Mendez read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Fabián Orellana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gonsalve Mendez stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fabián Orellana's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. Dagoberto Mezquita struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Gonsalve Mendez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manu FC. In the 75th match minute, Zariquiegui SD was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Luis Jauregui to maneuver through the defense. Gonsalve Mendez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dagoberto Mezquita in the 77th minute of play. Gonsalve Mendez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabián Orellana, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. When Dagoberto Mezquita came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Manu FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dagoberto Mezquita couldn't finish the play. Ricardo Revuelta recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gonsalve Mendez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabián Orellana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Fabián Orellana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
