With a little luck, Celta De Vigo's Leon Aguado got control of the ball when Prospero Murcia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donato Cabrera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leandro Ladra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of PUERTO SHERRY U.D.:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Celta De Vigo:s goal. Ponc Belalcaraz's late challenge caught a Celta De Vigo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ponc Belalcaraz helped the player get up and apologised. After 28 played minutes PUERTO SHERRY U.D. got a freekick which was hit by Ponc Belalcaraz. Eriberto Murcia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Donato Cabrera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Beltxe Pascua was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Celta De Vigo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave PUERTO SHERRY U.D. the free kick. After 40 played minutes Celta De Vigo got a freekick which was hit by Beltxe Pascua. Donato Cabrera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alcadio Amer, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute Eriberto Murcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Donato Cabrera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when John Silva made the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leandro Ladra in the 52nd minute of play forced PUERTO SHERRY U.D.'s goalkeeper Donato Cabrera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Celta De Vigo fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alcadio Amer got free with Donato Cabrera in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 93rd minute, Mario Briso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Celta De Vigo's supporters stood up full of expectation in the 95th minute of the game, when Beltxe Pascua after an extraordinary solo performance found himself with a golden opportunity in front of PUERTO SHERRY U.D.'s goal. Beltxe Pascua was unfortunally a little to anxious and the ball went outside the goal. Celta De Vigo played a much better game than PUERTO SHERRY U.D. and deserved their victory. The PUERTO SHERRY U.D. players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
