In the 20th minute Hegoi Infante shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olayo Comas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ERREKA F.C.'s Teobaldo Diaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Apolinar Zamora in the 21st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in ERREKA F.C.'s zone, Cristián Bargas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Teobaldo Diaz came out of the goal and Cristián Bargas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match clock showed 25 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Apolinar Zamora sped through ERREKA F.C.'s defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Teobaldo Diaz. In the 29th minute, Naldo Acedo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Teobaldo Diaz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Apolinar Zamora's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Cristián Bargas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Cabanillas FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cristián Bargas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Teobaldo Diaz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Apolinar Zamora had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Frodo Cañadas kicked well hit freekick during the 40th minute of the match. In the 43rdth minute of the game Apolinar Zamora who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but ERREKA F.C.'s Teobaldo Diaz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Cabanillas FC's Apolinar Zamora sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Teobaldo Diaz narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Raúl Olle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Teobaldo Diaz having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Apolinar Zamora was the one to do the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Hegoi Infante managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. ERREKA F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Hegoi Infante was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Olayo Comas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector-Luis Sirvent, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. A collision led to Cabanillas FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Raúl Olle hit a great ball. Cabanillas FC were furious when Alberto Turrilla was red carded, 59 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. Arrosko Coira shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. After some careless play in the Cabanillas FC defense, Hector-Luis Sirvent kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Olayo Comas. The Cabanillas FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olayo Comas should have stopped the shot. 68 minutes into the game, Cabanillas FC's Naldo Acedo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Teobaldo Diaz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. In the 72nd minute, Apolinar Zamora left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Cabanillas FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. After a rather tough play, ERREKA F.C.'s Frodo Cañadas got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 81st minute, Raúl Olle hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Hegoi Infante's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olayo Comas was relentless in the 82nd minute of the game.
