Aresti Babia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ismael Casillas in the 4th minute of play. Ismael Casillas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aresti Babia having to interfere. Aresti Babia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cordaro Roman in the 9th minute of the match. In the 15th match minute, Maire City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belisario Beloki to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute Piorno Navas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clodio Castellano saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Clodio Castellano made a fantastic save in the 30th minute, when Xaiver Abad sent off a good shot on target. After 31 minutes, Marcos Tormes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the El Astillero and the Maire City players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 31 played minutes El Astillero got a freekick which was hit by Marcos Tormes. Xaiver Abad might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Clodio Castellano. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xaiver Abad ran back to his position shaking his head. Eleuterio Fernandez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Ismael Casillas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aresti Babia having to interfere. The supporters of El Astillero booed when Maire City was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belisario Beloki didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aresti Babia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Casillas, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Cordaro Roman struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Aresti Babia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for El Astillero. If Xaiver Abad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Eleuterio Fernandez to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the game, Damian Lara was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Maire City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave El Astillero the free kick. In the 53rd minute, Damian Lara hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Aresti Babia was out of position in the 60 minute of play, and Ismael Casillas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Ismael Casillas really showed his touch with that goal: 0-1. If Xaiver Abad had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 71 minutes into the match, Maire City's goalkeeper Aresti Babia had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cordaro Roman. Clodio Castellano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Xaiver Abad in the 73rd minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Maire City's goal looked a bit too open when Ismael Casillas came free, but Aresti Babia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 76 played minutes Maire City got a freekick which was hit by Piorno Navas. El Astillero's Clodio Castellano played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eleuterio Fernandez in the 78th minute of play. A collision led to Maire City getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Fidel Higuera hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Damian Lara in the 91st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Clodio Castellano saved El Astillero from getting behind. Aresti Babia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ismael Casillas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. During the 93rd minute of the match Damian Lara completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Damian Lara a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Cordaro Roman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Aresti Babia tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. El Astillero's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
