When Uxio Tormes fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored U.D. Fuenlabrada's protests and gave Uxio Tormes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 17th match minute, U.D. Fuenlabrada was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uxio Tormes to maneuver through the defense. Eneko Leon recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 25 minutes, Dalmai Barba managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Club Atlético de Madrid's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dalmai Barba was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The supporters of Club Atlético de Madrid booed when U.D. Fuenlabrada was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Caetano Gonzáles didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dalmai Barba in the 31st minute of play forced U.D. Fuenlabrada's goalkeeper Fabio Casero to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. But to his dismay, Dalmai Barba quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Dalmai Barba stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Madrid's goal looked a bit too open when Florin Villa came free, but Porfirio Galdamez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Florin Villa managed to get in a good position for a shot. U.D. Fuenlabrada's supporters rose to their feet, but Florin Villa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Porfirio Galdamez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Florin Villa kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind U.D. Fuenlabrada's goalkeeper Fabio Casero, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Club Atlético de Madrid's Alvaro Yeste got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Uxio Tormes kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. 87 minutes into the match, Club Atlético de Madrid's Dalmai Barba sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Fabio Casero narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Dalmai Barba's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabio Casero was relentless in the 96th minute of the game. In the 97th minute, Danilo Sobera got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Club Atlético de Madrid's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
