The Gargantin fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 14 minutes into the match, Grumos Blancos's goalkeeper Gaizka Montaña had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sinforiano Raya. In the 16th minute Asteri Gene shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ander Marquez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rogelio Ribas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rogelio Ribas kicked well hit freekick during the 22nd minute of the match. When Kepa Mondejar fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gargantin's protests and gave Kepa Mondejar a yellow card for diving instead. After 23 played minutes Gargantin got a freekick which was hit by Kepa Mondejar. Gargantin's Ander Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Antero Velasco in the 25th minute of play. 27 minutes into the game, Giorgio Camacho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Ander Marquez was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 30 minutes into the match, Rogelio Ribas dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Gaizka Montaña, 2-1. A collision led to Grumos Blancos getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Giorgio Camacho hit a great ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Sinforiano Raya got free with Gaizka Montaña in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Gargantin's Ander Marquez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Giorgio Camacho in the 42nd minute of play. Gaizka Montaña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anibal Beloki in the 44th minute of play. Ander Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giorgio Camacho in the 46th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Anibal Beloki in the 47th minute of play forced Grumos Blancos's goalkeeper Gaizka Montaña to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sinforiano Raya was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Grumos Blancos's goal looked a bit too open when Sinforiano Raya came free, but Gaizka Montaña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 55th minute Anibal Beloki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gaizka Montaña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaizka Montaña made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-3. Ander Marquez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Giorgio Camacho in the 86th minute. Antero Velasco was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 88th minute. Grumos Blancos's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Ander Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Asteri Gene, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Grumos Blancos's Gaizka Montaña played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cordario Palencia in the 94th minute of play. Gargantin's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
