A very good chance for a goal. When Lino Pedraza fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Santsencs's protests and gave Lino Pedraza a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Portugalete booed when Santsencs was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lino Pedraza didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th match minute, Portugalete was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ibon Torres to maneuver through the defense. Santsencs's Albi Ballesteros shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 14th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Donato Flores but with some difficulty. In the 16thth minute of the game Eutropio Canturri who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Santsencs's Naldo Campomanes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some careless play in the Santsencs defense, Jude Bellingham kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Naldo Campomanes. The Santsencs fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Naldo Campomanes should have stopped the shot. Gaz Seward recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Naldo Campomanes made a fantastic save in the 67th minute, when Eutropio Canturri sent off a good shot on target. Gaz Seward sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Portugalete made a substitution. Nicholas Lama replaced Ibon Torres. Portugalete's Bras Urbina was substituted for Daniel Carvajal. The audience was convinced that Eutropio Canturri's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Campomanes was relentless in the 71st minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eutropio Canturri got free with Naldo Campomanes in the 74th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The Santsencs fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Naldo Campomanes should have stopped the shot. If Eutropio Canturri had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Eutropio Canturri's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Naldo Campomanes was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game. Gaz Seward struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Naldo Campomanes didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Portugalete. Portugalete's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
