With a little luck, Sporting CP's Claude Santander got control of the ball when Cristobal Rapado tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting CP's zone, Isauro Rey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Claude Santander came out of the goal and Isauro Rey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA booed when Sporting CP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Seth Rice didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristobal Rapado could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Claude Santander made a huge save. Sporting CP's Claude Santander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Isauro Rey in the 40th minute of play. C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA's Michael Benítez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Victoriano Zurica in the 43rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA's Silviano Leguade got a free kick in the 44th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the match clock showed 55 minutes, the score became 2-1 when Victoriano Zurica sped through C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Michael Benítez. Isauro Rey took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Claude Santander. Claude Santander dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA's Bahiano Valverde was substituted for Isauro Rey. Michael Benítez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Aznar in the 78th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Victoriano Zurica reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Michael Benítez. The goal made the score 3-3. In the 83rd match minute, C.F.P. ORIHUELA DEPORTIVA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gilabert Calderon to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Victoriano Zurica managed to get in a good position for a shot. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
