After 29 played minutes Beal got a freekick which was hit by Argi Quintero. In the 30th minute of the match Nicodemo Camacho sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dario Ramis skillfully saved the ball. Ebardo Vega who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Toro Ramos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. If Ebardo Vega had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henry Muelas in the 44th minute of play forced San Mames's goalkeeper Toro Ramos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dario Ramis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Andrés-Fernando Domingo in the 47th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Dario Ramis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for San Mames. When Argi Quintero fell near the penalty area in the 82nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Beal's protests and gave Argi Quintero a yellow card for diving instead. Dario Ramis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicodemo Camacho in the 84th minute of the match.
