Alvaro Garcia didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mendebal Canyelles went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. The crowd rose to their feet as Vélez Sarsfield Alicante's Rai Rey slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Valdo Solo. That made the score 1-1 after 19 minutes of play. Alvaro Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Urko Alarcon in the 22nd minute of play. Rai Rey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Valdo Solo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Vélez Sarsfield Alicante getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Demesio Cabrera hit a great ball. After 38 played minutes Vélez Sarsfield Alicante got a freekick which was hit by Hustaz Bargas. Alvaro Garcia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mendebal Canyelles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 44 minutes into the game, Ismael Pacheco cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Alvaro Garcia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After the first half Club Deportivo Castellón were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
