After a defensive mix-up in Victory F.C.'s zone, Per Nørbjerg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Søren Malman came out of the goal and Per Nørbjerg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 27th minute, Mikael Kandil hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 28 played minutes Hønning got a freekick which was hit by Laurids Hvenekilde. 29 minutes into the match, Hønning's goalkeeper Gert Altorn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Moses Vesterlyng. Kurd Thiemer might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gert Altorn. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kurd Thiemer ran back to his position shaking his head. Theis Erfurth's late challenge caught a Hønning's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Theis Erfurth helped the player get up and apologised. In the 43rd minute, Theis Erfurth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 44 played minutes Hønning got a freekick which was hit by John-Arne Riise. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The supporters of Hønning booed when Victory F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kurd Thiemer didn't get a good kick on the ball. 61 minutes into the match, Victory F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when John-Arne Riise came free, but Søren Malman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Per Nørbjerg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Søren Malman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Søren Malman made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Per Nørbjerg sent off a good shot on target. 93 minutes into the game, Bill Hadders was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Victory F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hønning the free kick. Bill Hadders kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. Hønning's John-Arne Riise got a good chance for a goal in the 99th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Victory F.C. support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
