In the 24th minute John-Arne Riise shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vagnar Tholsted saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Dynamo Brabrand defense, Per Nørbjerg kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vagnar Tholsted. The Dynamo Brabrand fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vagnar Tholsted should have stopped the shot. After 30 minutes of play, Dynamo Brabrand's Thor Lyksdal made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gert Altorn was left in no man's land by his defense there! 33 minutes into the match, Hønning's goal looked a bit too open when Thor Lyksdal came free, but Gert Altorn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Hønning booed when Dynamo Brabrand was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hektor Elversøe didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hønning's Per Nørbjerg got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vagnar Tholsted showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from John-Arne Riise in the 40th minute of the match. 44 minutes into the match, Hønning's goal looked a bit too open when Vinzent Soubak came free, but Gert Altorn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Henrik Hegnsbøl made a kick off. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dynamo Brabrand's goalkeeper Vagnar Tholsted, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar.
