Arne Piller made a great header on SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN's corner, it was just that Rieden FC's Flavio Freud managed to reach the ball for a save. Erhard Maluga struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Flavio Freud didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN. When Roman Bosse came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Roman Bosse couldn't finish the play. 20 minutes into the match, Rieden FC's goal looked a bit too open when Erhard Maluga came free, but Flavio Freud reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 23rd minute, Josua Stenzer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Flavio Freud showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roman Bosse, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Flavio Freud made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roman Bosse in the 27th minute of play. Roman Bosse might have been able to make a better finish in the 35th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Flavio Freud. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Roman Bosse ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes into the match, SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN's Erhard Maluga sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Flavio Freud narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erhard Maluga in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Flavio Freud prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 41st minute Roman Bosse shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Freud saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Roman Bosse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Freud having to interfere. Ersan Magath hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Erhard Maluga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 50th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ersan Magath stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute, Erhard Maluga got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 59th minute, Roman Bosse got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 64 minutes in the game, Erhard Maluga fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Flavio Freud having to interfere. Ersan Magath's late challenge caught a SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ersan Magath helped the player get up and apologised. After a defensive mix-up in Rieden FC's zone, Erhard Maluga stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavio Freud came out of the goal and Erhard Maluga tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Flavio Freud didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Erhard Maluga went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. 71 minutes into the game, Erhard Maluga recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Flavio Freud. Erhard Maluga showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-2. The audience was convinced that Roman Bosse's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Flavio Freud was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. In the 77th minute, SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN's Roman Bosse ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Flavio Freud. Flavio Freud yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN's Florian Döll got a good chance for a goal in the 82nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Roman Bosse had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arne Piller got free with Flavio Freud in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Roman Bosse fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Flavio Freud having to interfere. If Erhard Maluga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Flavio Freud was out of position in the 92 minute of play, and Roman Bosse capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Roman Bosse really showed his touch with that goal: 0-4. With a little luck, Rieden FC's Flavio Freud got control of the ball when Erhard Maluga tried to sneak it across the goal line. The Rieden FC fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. SSV SCHALKE KNAPPEN were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
