Kaspar Marz had in the 10thth minute some difficulties stopping Toni Hübner's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Opherten's Toni Hübner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Kaspar Marz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 15th minute Kjeld Wisotzki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Attila Kuhn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 17 minutes Opherten's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Attila Wittlich who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Racing Auenheim's corner Attila Wittlich fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Attila Kuhn quite easily take care of the ball. Jerzy Frosch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Attila Kuhn made a huge save. Kaspar Marz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maxim Groll, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. The supporters of Racing Auenheim booed when Opherten was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emile Koser didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Maxim Groll got free with Kaspar Marz in the 52nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Dennis Happel during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 61 minutes into the game, Manfred Haußdörfer was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Racing Auenheim's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Opherten the free kick. The Opherten fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-3. When the match was over Opherten could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Racing Auenheim throughout the match.
