Sixten Thorbrügge could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 12th minute of the match, but Gerd Dürr made a huge save. Lucjan Niedzwiecki hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jerzy Schollenberger during the 16th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After some careless play in the Hornbosteler SV defense, Silvano Thomaschewski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gerd Dürr. The Hornbosteler SV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gerd Dürr should have stopped the shot. Peter Graefe kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Claus Theunissen stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fritz Beyer's shot from short distance in the 32nd minute. Claus Theunissen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michael Schockenhoff in the 58th minute of the match. Wayne Rilke's late challenge caught a Hornbosteler SV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card.
