BergischerFußballClub1984's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jörg Lamwersiek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Holger Jank showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gunther Große in the 15th minute of the match. Gunther Große sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Maurizio Klehn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 20 minutes into the match, BergischerFußballClub1984's Maurizio Klehn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that René Päßler narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jörg Lamwersiek who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 35thth minute tested the skills of René Päßler when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Marco Dingels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Jank having to interfere. BergischerFußballClub1984's Jörg Lamwersiek got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Gunther Große received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 52nd minute. Holger Jank tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Gunther Große managed to get in a good position for a shot. Wolfskaute's supporters rose to their feet, but Gunther Große was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Holger Jank breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marco Dingels fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Holger Jank having to interfere. Jörg Lamwersiek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 72 played minutes, Wolfskaute's Markus Klein shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Holger Jank came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Wolfskaute reached it. In the 73rd match minute, BergischerFußballClub1984 was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jörg Lamwersiek to maneuver through the defense. If Gunther Große had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute.
