In the 7thth minute of the game Jürgen Holzwart who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Grimelsheim FC's Eberhard Knoche was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Predrag Ackermann received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Eberhard Knoche tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jürgen Holzwart blasted a shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Eberhard Knoche having to make a save. Simon Kirchberger kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 13 minutes into the match, Grimelsheim FC's Eduard Kühn sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Christoph Köhnen narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Rothen's Jürgen Holzwart in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Eberhard Knoche showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Rothen getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Carsten Resch hit a great ball. Heimito Seisler could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Christoph Köhnen made a huge save. Heimito Seisler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Christoph Köhnen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eberhard Knoche showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jürgen Holzwart, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After having played for 48 minutes, Jürgen Holzwart managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Rothen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jürgen Holzwart was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Eduard Kühn stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Christoph Köhnen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Heimito Seisler, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 56 minutes into the match, Heimito Seisler had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christoph Köhnen. Rothen's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Heimito Seisler was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 59 played minutes Rothen got a freekick which was hit by Max Josef Papies. Rothen's Christoph Köhnen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Herrmann Bolz in the 62nd minute of play. Heimito Seisler received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 64th minute. Christoph Köhnen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 68 minutes into the match, Grimelsheim FC's goalkeeper Eberhard Knoche had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eppo Koser. A very good chance for a goal. Wladimir Hausotter took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 79th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Christoph Köhnen. Rothen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Jürgen Holzwart came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the Rothen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jürgen Holzwart couldn't finish the play. A collision led to Grimelsheim FC getting a freekick after 93 minutes play. Herbert Labinsky hit a great ball. Rothen's Jürgen Holzwart got a good chance for a goal in the 95th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Heimito Seisler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 96th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Grimelsheim FC players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
